Creature of the Wood
The Soom MD Amber I ordered ages ago arrived today, so Davlin finally has his tail and his proper hooves. I might need to do a little bit of work on the hooves, but they fit well. He's now basically complete. He still needs his clawed hands, but otherwise he's good - antlers, Saint head, Heliot body, Sard hocks, and Amber hooves and tail. Hybrid, we have one. XD

In celebration, I took him down to the park that's a five-minute walk from my apartment and shot some photos. Lyrics (slightly edited) taken from "Creature of the Wood" and "Creature in the Wood," both sung by Heather Alexander (the latter is a parody of the former, with a female narrative voice rather than a male one).

So, the Amber legs! ...are they fab? Considering the otherwise content of the waitingroom, yours is the only opinions I trust.

Well, I think the Amber hooves are the nicest I've got so far, and I have a set of Sard hooves, a set of Heliot hooves, and a set of Euclase talons as well. But I don't know about the legs, as I've not done much with them. I'm not keeping her body, you see, and I've cannibalized the hooves for Davlin, so right now the legs are...in a box, still in their bubble-wrap, being totally ignored.

I was so excited I ah, didn't realize that until just now. I'm sure Davlin doesn't need that may curves.

Delicious hoofies. You felt good enough about them to take them out on the rocks. I can bring my giant deer girl over to Marv and Shirley and let her frolic in their garden. *nodsnods* As soon as it cools off, I'm going to try taking more pics outside. Hopefully, I won't catch any horrible doom spores this time.

I did end up modifying his legs a bit. I hauled them to work and took a vise and a drill bit to them. Widened the inner channels on all his leg parts, which allowed me to run a second wire through them, so he's now double-wired in the legs. It pretty much fixed his stability problems.

Awesome is the best word for it. I started squeeing when I saw the shadow on the rock--amazing pic there, just by itself. The Saint head is perfect for this character, IMHO. Every little detail is so nicely done! I love the horns, the wig fur--is that rabbit fur?--it's the perfect length for this! The clothes and accessories are to die for. A cravat with a pin, a watch, and something that isn't a matchlock or wheelock, not quite-- very well done. Bravo!

Yes, it is indeed rabbit fur! It's only one of his wigs - he has a few mohair ones, too. It's his "short hair" wig.

I built his gun by modifying a 1/3 scale model flintlock pistol. It's all gadgety. <3

It just looks so nice, the whole ensemble is so crisp and such a contrast with the natural world out there.

I did indeed make the wig. I bought a rabbit-pelt and made a pattern with saran wrap, then cut and sewed it by hand. I'll be making him a new one eventually - this didn't turn out quite as I wanted, but it'll do for now.

I'll put up pictures of the chaos pistol later.

The wig looks really good in the closeups here. It looks soft!

Amazingly awesome! I definitely think you have the best parts of all sorts of dolls going on there (I mean, really, a Saint head + Amber hooves + pretty horns + Victorian suit = for the win!) I can't wait to see him in person some time *____*
