It's actually a few different brushes (amusingly enough, clouds mostly, dialed down to lower resolutions) all set to use the same base color. I'm pleased with the "fresh bruising" effect, especially. The other parts look like smeared spatter, which is perfect. Spending a lot of time over the last couple years looking at blood on people, up-close-and-personal, has probably helped me in figuring out ow to turn cloud brushes into bloody mess. ^_~
And yes, beatdown and close-range are exactly the two things I was thinking. You know me so well. XD
