| Rude Awakening (Stop-Motion) |

I've taken another crack at some stop-motion animation using one of the dolls. Been meaning to do so for a while now, but just haven't had the free time. It takes forever, and I'm still getting the hang of it (plus, my frame rate isn't quite as high as it should be), but I'm pleased with the results. This is only 7 seconds long, and that's including the fade! Still, I only had one toppling-doll incident, and everyone survived (though I had to lock the cat out of my bedroom, because she was far too interested in the whole process).
Er, let's just say Jian is high as a kite drugged out of his mind under the influence of pain medications due to some undefined injury, and that's why Wren doesn't wake him up when she's doing all that moving around. ^_^;; (The truth is, I didn't feel up to trying to do all this sequential posing with two dolls at once yet. So he gets to stay under the blankets there, looking asleep, and all you see is the back of his head.)

I'd forgotten how much I love this movie (and the first Ghost in the Shell, too). I'm not a big fan of the original manga by Shirow Masamune, and the Stand Alone Complex series just leaves me disgusted, but I truly love Mamoru Oshii's interpretations of the story and characters. His interest in Hans Bellmer's work becomes really apparent in this opening sequence, for anyone who is familiar with Bellmer's doll photography.
I really need to buy copies of both films, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

| Fridge & The Yes or No Meme |

So my refrigerator is broken. Not making anything cold. Freezer not freezing. This has been going on for two days. Complex maintenance came in yesterday and replaced the thermostat, but that hasn't helped, so tomorrow morning they're just going to replace the entire fridge. Yay for new fridge! It sucks that half of the food in my freezer will probably be spoiled, though. I didn't have much, but the shrimp shaomai will have to be thrown out or eaten within the next 12 hours, no question, and those were tasty.
Also, I gakked this meme from sedens.

| Lt. Colonel Victor Fehrenbach: Don't Ask, Don't Tell |
|
|
| 10:45am 04/06/2009 |
| |
As a citizen of this country, and as someone who has had many family members serve in the military and who has been recently considering joining the Air Force myself, I am horrified by the fact that this archaic, bigoted, and blatantly discriminatory policy is still in existence. The knowledge that it is being used to unjustly punish someone like Lt. Colonel Fehrenbach, a man who has risked his life many times over in the service and protection of this great nation, a man who has committed no offense warranting such a punishment, and a man who has proven time and again his loyalty to the United States of America, her people, and her values, sickens me to the core. How can our nation's military fight in wars across the globe, claiming to defend freedom, when that same military imposes such a ridiculous restriction on its devoted soldiers?
http://www.sldn.org/page/s/fehrenbach
Go there. Read it. If you're not sure, do some research on him and on the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. Sign the petition. Change starts with one person. |

| Art Theft: Mijn Schatje |
|
|
| 05:22am 03/06/2009 |
| |
As some of you are probably aware, a fairly well-known and successful (clothing lines and brands like Playstation have used her plagiarised work, and paid her for the right to do so) artist named Mijn Schatje has recently come under scrutiny in the ABJD community for her blatant use of other people's work without their permission. Specifically, she has traced over photographs taken by other people, of dolls that belong to those people, and colored her tracings and then presented them as original artwork entirely of her own creation. She hasn't even done a good job at it - looking at the images, her grasp of anatomy is at best slip-shod, and I could color that well when I was in second grade (and that WITHOUT a nice vector-manipulating program). Many of the photographs she ripped off were stock images of dolls from the company websites themselves, and she did all of this without informing the companies or the individuals, much less asking their permission.
See this very informative page put together by RadioTrash for more information.
I hope someone takes legal action against this moron. I wish she'd stolen a photo of mine, just so I'd have the grounds to do so. That's how much I want to see someone take her down. |

Hey, lo and behold, he's looking pretty close to complete! Not fully himself, of course - needs some work on his ears, and some parts from the not-yet-shipping Soom MD Amber, but he's certainly coming along nicely.

| Cassock + Motorcycles |
|
|
| 06:06am 28/05/2009 |
| |
My mom unexpectedly gave me a cassock that used to belong to one of the pastors at her church. It's way too big for me (he was like 6' 5" or something, a foot taller than I am at least) and will have to be hemmed and taken in a lot. Despite that, I'm apparently going to cosplay Snape for the next Harry Potter movie opening, if only because it's too perfect an opportunity to pass up.
XD
Also, motorcycles really are just like giant vibrators. @_@ Especially when they have a really growly/rumbly engine. |

I helped one of my friends and her boyfriend move on Saturday. Took about eight hours of solid, no-breaks work.
About three hours before we finished, I slipped while carrying the sofa with her boyfriend. Turned my right ankle off the edge of the walkway leading up to their new front door (it has about a seven inch drop-off on the edge), skinned my left knee when I went down, and to add insult to the injury, I dropped the sofa on myself.
I feel skilled. Trust me.
Minor ankle sprain, which is more suck than debilitating, but makes driving a pain in the ass and makes me cranky. It probably doesn't help that I continued to work for three hours, rather than going immediately inside and applying the RICE protocol, but...well, we were on a schedule. And they didn't have any other helpers. I spent most of Saturday night in the office, rather than doing my rounds like I'm supposed to. (I worked both Friday and Saturday nights.) And then I woke up Sunday afternoon, after getting off work, and EVERY MUSCLE IN MY BODY decided to speak up at the same time and tell me that they were Not Happy with me. "Stiff and sore" is probably accurate, but doesn't feel adequate in any way, shape, or form.
On the plus side, the ankle still hurts, but it seems less serious since everything else hurts, too. Ahh, relativity. Sometimes you can apply it to things to make them look better.
Okay, I'm done being a whiny little bitch now. I'm going to go put on the ankle brace I jacked from work, stagger down the stairs to my car, drive to my parent's house, and get back to packing up the stuff I never bothered to clear out of my old room. |

The official trailer for Tim Burton's new film, 9. I've been meaning to post this for a couple weeks now, but keep forgetting. I think it looks awesome. Post-apocalyptic steampunk voodoo dolls FOR THE WIN. I mean, really. What's not to love there? Maybe if they made them post-apocalytic NINJA-ZOMBIE-PIRATE steampunk voodoo dolls, they could have hit a few more trend buttons, but that might have been overkill, don't you agree?

Shamelessly ganked from greenjudy.
A - Age: 24
B - Bed size: Queen.
C - Chore you hate: Vacuuming. Always have, probably always will.
D - Dogs' names: Dogless. Cat's name is MingMing.
E - Essential start your day item: Shower. I get grouchy if I haven't gotten to take a shower.
F - Favorite color: Transitory. It's easier to say what colors I don't like.
G - Gold or Silver: Silver.
H - Height: 5' 4"-ish.
I - Instruments you play: Flute. Though I haven't touched mine in...seven years? Eight? And I was never very good to begin with, mostly because I didn't want to play it and was required to by the school.
J - Job title: Security Officer.
K - Kid: Hell no. I can barely handle my cat.
L - Living arrangements: Apartment. Hopefully will have the whole long-term job/career thing (post location) figured out within the next year or so, and be able to acquire a house.
M - Mum's name: Renee.
N - Nicknames: Kiyakotari, Kiya, IQLS (don't ask), Peanut, Midget, Turbo. Older sister used to call me "Lor-lor."
O - Overnight hospital stay other than birth: Appendectomy in 3rd grade. Pneumonia when I was...very young, I don't know how old. Also, does working the graveyard shift (11p-7:30a) five days a week at the local hospital count?
P - Pet Peeve: Grammar/spelling/punctuation errors, especially in any kind of signage or "official/professional" presentation. Inconsistency/implausibility in fiction. Poor characterizations, especially the "weeping uke" (and the "seme or uke" trope) in yaoi. Being called "woman" or "a woman" for any reason. Call me by my fucking name, not my gender, asswipes! **climbs down off soapbox**
Q - Quote(s) from a movie: (All from the same movie.) - "Brilliant! So now we got a huge guy theory, and a serial crusher theory. Top notch." - "And shepherds we shall be for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand. Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomini Patri, et Fili, et Spiritus Sancti." - "Fuckin'-- What the fuckin' fuck-- Who the fuck-- Fuck this fuckin' -- How did you two fuckin' fucks-- Fuck! Well, that certainly illustrates the diversity of the word."
R - Right or left handed: Right.
S - Siblings: Older half-sister. Younger sister.
T - Time you wake up: Extremely variable - I work graveyards. I usually stay up until 2-3pm, then get up at 10pm, or I go to bed straight off work and get up in the early-to-mid afternoon. Sometimes I go to bed around 11am and get up around 5pm.
U - Underwear: At the moment? None - I'm sitting here in a bathrobe. In general, unadorned thong (I think they're comfortable) and plain bra or sports bra.
V - Vegetable you dislike: Eggplant. Also bell peppers, onions, tomatoes (I know, fruit, not veggie, but whatever), cauliflower, cooked carrots.
W - Ways you run late: Usually procrastination or alarm-clock error.
X - X-rays you've had: Feet (both), neck/shoulders/head (SEVERAL times - multiple cases of whiplash), abdomen (I think - I seem to remember that when I had appendicitis, along with an ultrasound).
Y - Yummy food you make: I do not cook. I microwave (canned beans, mostly).
Z - Zoo favorite: I haven't been to a zoo in...a very long time. But I used to especially love all the wild cat houses and the butterfly tents, where the butterflies would land on people. |

Laith's head came home from cifr today! (Along with Duo's head and both of Ha-Neul's faceplates, but I haven't managed photos of the chibi yet, and Duo has no body and no eyes and no hair, so...yeah.) He's gorgeous. My doctor is starting to look more like himself (though he still needs a wig of his own - this is borrowed). I'm absolutely thrilled.
And dude, if anyone out there happens to know how to read Arabic and I've somehow messed up Laith's name up there, please let me know! Figuring out how to write it was very difficult, and I suspect I've got it wrong.

WTF Modern Education Fail
Seriously. This is an event happening at another school that in no way affects this student's behavior at his school, and CERTAINLY has no bearing on his academic abilities or standing. WTF? (I want to go there and stage a protest. Is that bad? I can't, obviously, because flying = expensive, and Kiya = not broke, but not rolling in the dough, either. But I want to.)

| Getting Acquainted |

Learning my way around the Bobcat. Read half-way through the manual (again - I already had a copy from the internet, which I read a week and a half ago), then field-stripped it. Surprisingly easy to do. So tiny! Fits my hands perfectly, which is a nice change from the other guns I've handled. And I was right - the random spare clip I have is the one made by Beretta for this gun. Which makes me grin - it was fate, apparently, for this to be my first.

I should be sleeping right now, since I work tonight, but I'm going to spend some more time familiarizing myself with the gun. Because, you know. Excited.
I guess this means my pistol-owning cherry has well and truly been popped. ^_______^
(I'm also surprised by how FAST the check with ATF cleared. It's supposed to take 7-14 days. I filled out the paperwork after noon on Wednesday, and the dealer called me today to tell me I was good to go and to come pick up my gun. @_@ That's only three days. Just under a week from ordering to having the gun in my hands, and that's without a CCW, because I haven't gotten one yet.) |

"This post is about ladybits! So in 2004, a woman doctor who had gotten around to doing careful dissections of female genitalia published her findings for the general public. And Oh My Gods, did she RAWK our world. *raises a toast to Dr O'Connell*
For the first time in human history, the clit is becoming mapped and understood. It's huge! The whole thing - the labia, the interior walls of the vagina, the clitoris itself, they're all part of the same structure.
NONE of these links are worksafe!!
Wikipedia updated its entry just a few months ago. Click on every picture!
This site offers a side view diagram.
And as a bonus, here is a MegaPorn video on oral sex lesbian style - really. ReallyreallyNSFW-really."
I think everyone should see this, whether they're male or female, gay, straight, or otherwise inclined, in a relationship or single. Share this with everyone you know! Gakk the entire entry, my friends, and spam the world! |

Just upgraded my laptop from 2GB to 4GB (though with the Vista 32 bit home edition, it's only recognizing 3GB, which I expected), and boy can I already tell the difference. YUM. Slapped in a couple new G.Skill sticks (with heat spreaders!!) that came in the mail today from Newegg. Took maybe five minutes, and I'm thrilled with the results. |
